Autumn Movement

Autumn Movement
Carl Sandburg (1918)

I cried over beautiful things knowing no beautiful thing lasts. The field of cornflower yellow is a scarf at the neck of the copper sunburned woman, the mother of the year, the taker of seeds. The northwest wind comes and the yellow is torn full of holes, new beautiful things come in the first spit of snow on the northwest wind, and the old things go, not one lasts.

Hot and Happy Summer

It's been nearly a month since I've blogged! I feel like I've missed out on a lot.
Kevin is now home from two loooong months in Mississippi. I flew down twice to see him and visit the ocean....remember, I'm a "land-lubber" from Kansas so to see a REAL beach is exciting!
On the second trip down to Biloxi, I flew one way and drove the 17 hours home with Kevin. I was as happy as he was to bring him home. I now feel like my life will get back to normal.

Walking on the beach on day, I saw this and it reminded us how much fun our grandbabies would have playing in the water and sand.

These are some shrimping boats. This scene seems so picturesque to me.

Surprise Rhubarb

YUM!! Soon you will become Rhubarb Strawberry Jam!
Here's the recipe I'll use:
Lookin' good.

OK, so look past the weeks.....RHUBARB!! I never knew I even had rhubarb, My husband usually mows/trims this part of the yard. Had I not neglected this section of mowing, I would have never known we had rhubarb!

Looks like one good thing has come out of my husbands two month absence. (However, I think I would prefer him to be home, even over the rhubarb discovery!

Memorial Day

To Kevin, my Dad, and everyone else we tend to take for granted. A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check Made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in This country who no longer understand it.'

Biloxi Gulf Coast

I have been in Biloxi MS the past five days visiting my husband.....he's on military orders until the end of June. I will post more story and photos in a day or two when I get home.....it will definitely be bittersweet going home.

Thrifty Thursday..OK, it's Only Monday

OK, I know it's not Thursday...believe my I KNOW!! If it were, I'd be in Biloxi Mississippi with my Husband!

I found this set of five Melmac plates for .50 cents at my local thrift store.
They looked so springy, I needed to get them!

I have no idea what I'll do with them, but hey...only .50 cents!

Garden 2009, Early in the Season

My granddaughter, Alli, and I made this sidewalk to enter the garden and surround our raised bed.

The old garden door.....where does it go?

Mr. Snail!!! How did you get in the strawberry patch?!
